Moran & Cato

1. Mez Medallion

Playing Rocketship, Is It True? and I’ll Remember You

Mez Medallion was the first artist to join Moran & Cato, acting as a guinea pig of sorts as we sorted out our sound and video set up in the warehouse.

As a Berlin-based electronic musician, Mez has played shows throughout Europe, including Iceland, Poland and Portugal, and we have long been fans of his unique brand of 80’s nu wave electro. His recently released debut album “Move Towards The Light” is a must listen, and we were thrilled he was able to drop in to play some songs while on tour in Melbourne.

He played a new song, ”I’ll Remember You”, as well as “Rocketship” and “Is It True?” from his debut album.

Next up he is off to Japan, with three back to back shows in Tokyo. You can check out all the details at his website.

To get the audio from the performance, head over to Soundcloud and for photos (taken by the incredible Samara Clifford) head over to Flickr.

Hello, friend!

Moran & Cato is a new video music project, based in the heart of Fitzroy.

We’ll be sharing live acoustic performances from a bunch of artists, based on a simple idea: artists reinterpreting their material to show another side of it in the beautiful and rustic Moran & Cato warehouse, in Fitzroy, Melbourne.

We record it, both audio and video, for your joyous consumption, right here.

And who are we?

We are the kids from Brightly.

We know there is so much incredible music in Melbourne, and we want to celebrate it. To help bands show the universe how ridiculously clever and talented they are, and to show listeners a bunch of new bands they may not have heard yet.

Basically, everyone wins.

So, what now?

If you’re in a band and you’d like to be involved, email us to get in touch. And if you want to keep up to date on Moran & Cato, you can follow us on Facebook or Twitter and we’ll let you know when the first performance is ready.
